New Castle Man Arrested on Felony Gun Charges Following DUI Traffic Stop in Frederica

FREDERICA, DE – Delaware State Police arrested Charles Drummond III, a 55-year-old New Castle resident, on felony gun charges during a traffic stop early this morning in Frederica. Today, at approximately 12:54 a.m., troopers observed a Chrysler 300 swerving out of its lane multiple times on SR-1, north of Bowers Beach Road.

Upon stopping the vehicle, troopers noticed signs of impairment in Drummond and initiated a DUI investigation.

Following Drummond’s arrest, an inventory search of the Chrysler revealed a concealed, loaded handgun. Drummond was charged at Troop 3 with carrying a concealed firearm (felony), possession of a firearm while under the influence (misdemeanor), driving under the influence of alcohol (misdemeanor), and failure to remain within a single lane.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court #7 and released after posting a $7001.00 secured bond.
