Pedestrian struck and killed in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE – A 47-year-old Wilmington man was struck and killed while walking across Kirkwood Highway Friday night.

The Delaware State Police reported at 8:00 p.m., that a black Acura ILX was traveling westbound on Kirkwood Highway west of Farrand Drive.

At that time, a 47-year-old male pedestrian was walking southbound across Kirkwood Highway when he entered the path of the Acura.

He suffered ‘significant’ injuries, according to the DSP.

The driver, a 39-year-old woman remained on scene until police arrived. She was not injured.

The identity of the victim was not released. Kirkwood Highway westbound was closed for approximately two hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
