Two dead, one injured in Trenton murder-suicide

TRENTON, NJ – Police in Trenton are investigating a double shooting that left a woman dead and another male victim injured. The gunman was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident appears to be a murder-suicide at this time.

The shooting occurred around 6:30 pm Sunday in the 100 block of Pennington Avenue.

Police were alerted to the shooting by the city’s ShotSpotter gunshot alert system. When police arrived, they found two gunshot victims at the Monroe Street and Pennington Avenue intersection.

The adult woman was suffering from multiple gunshot victims. She was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead a short time later.

The male victim was taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound to the hand. His injuries are non-life-threatening.

During their investigation, police were notified by a nearby resident that the suspected gunman was inside a nearby home on Pennington Avenue.

When officers entered the home, they found the adult male, suspected of being the gunman, dead with a single gunshot wound to the head. The gun used in the shooting was found near the deceased man.
