TRENTON, NJ – 46-year-old Antoine Brown, of Trenton was identified as the gunman in last night’s murder-suicide incident in Trenton.

Police said Brown shot and killed Nyeisha Saunders, 41, then shot her 19-year-old son before taking his own life. The 19-year-old male victim survived, suffering a gunshot wound to the hand.

Brown and Saunders, according to police, were engaged in a previous dating relationship.

At around 6 pm on Sunday, police were dispatched to the 100 block of Pennington Avenue after receiving an alert from the city’s ShotSpotter gunshot detection system.

When they arrived, they located the two victims. Saunders was rushed to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Her son was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

During their investigation, police were notified by a third party that the alleged gunman was in a house nearby. Police entered the house to find Brown with a single gunshot wound to the head. The gun used in the previous shooting was near his body.

The investigation is ongoing.  Police believe this is an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to the public. Anyone with information is asked to contact MCHTF Detective Luis Vega at 609-989-6406. Information can also be emailed to mchtftips@mercercounty.org.
