Body of missing Beachwood man found in Toms River

TOMS RIVER, NJ – The body of 32-year-old John Applegate was found by a family member assisting in a search for the missing man on Tuesday.

According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Tuesday, the body of John Applegate, 32, of Beachwood, was discovered in an area of water between Lakehurst Road and Route 37 in Toms River.

“Mr. Applegate had been missing since March 24, 2023; his body was located by a family friend who had volunteered to assist with the search. The decedent was transported to Community Medical Center pending a post-mortem examination,” Billhimer said.

A county-wide search for Mr. Applegate was conducted this week after he was reported missing by family members.

Police have not released any further details on this matter.
