Utica Woman Charged with Child Abuse Involving Electrical Cords

UTICA, NY – A disturbing case of child abuse has come to light in Utica, where two children, ages 5 and 9, were reportedly struck with electrical cords on multiple occasions. The Utica Police Department began investigating the child abuse complaint on March 19, 2023, after being alerted by Child Protective Services (CPS).

As a result of the investigation, 25-year-old Sherrie Roman of Utica was charged with two counts of Assault in the second degree and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. CPS took immediate action, removing the two children, along with three others, to safe locations. The case highlights the importance of reporting and investigating child abuse, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children.
