Do you know him? Police asking public to help identify robbery suspect

NEWARK, NJ – Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is urgently requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an armed robbery that occurred on Saturday, March 25, 2023. At approximately 9:42 PM, police responded to a business in the 500 block of Orange Street after receiving a report of an armed robbery. The suspect entered the business, brandished a handgun, and demanded cash before taking money from the cash register and fleeing the scene. The suspect was last seen heading east on Orange Street in a black vehicle with a temporary tag.

Detectives describe the suspect as a dark-skinned Black male, approximately 5’9″ tall with a medium build. He was wearing black and white Nike sneakers, a black jacket, face mask, and blue jeans during the incident. Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the identity of the suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips will be kept confidential and may result in a reward.
