Vehicle Fire Turns Fatal, Ocean City Police and Fire Departments Investigating

Ocean City, MD, USA 04-18-2021: A Ford Explorer Police vehicle belonging to Ocean City Police department is idling near the board walk. This is a K-9 unit with the trained dog inside the car.

OCEAN CITY, MD – A tragic scene unfolded on Tuesday, at approximately 11:56 PM, as Ocean City Police and Fire Departments responded to a reported vehicle fire at 200 125th Street. Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle engulfed in flames in the east parking lot. Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire, but a deceased victim was discovered inside the vehicle.

The victim has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification and an autopsy. A joint investigation is currently underway, involving the Ocean City Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and the Ocean City Fire Marshal’s Office, to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
