D.C. police investigating shooting on Congress Street

Supreme Court ruling on West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency demonstration in Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle connected to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that took place on Thursday, March 23, 2023, in the 1300 block of Congress Street, Southeast. At around 3:43 pm, Seventh District officers responded to reports of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, they found an adult male victim with gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. A short time later, a second adult male victim arrived at the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Surveillance cameras in the area captured images of the suspect’s vehicle, which have been released to the public. Anyone with information about the vehicle or knowledge of the incident is urged not to take any action but instead call the police at (202) 727-9099 or text tips to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone providing information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this violent crime.
