Capitol Heights Man Charged in D.C. Police Officer Assault and Robbery

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington D.C. Metro Police Department has made an arrest in the robbery and assault of an MPD officer in the early hours of Monday morning in Northwest D.C.

Just before 2:30 am, a suspect threw a bottle at a uniformed MPD officer in the 700 block of 7th Street and fled the scene. The suspect then approached a victim and forcibly took the victim’s property before fleeing. Responding officers were able to apprehend the suspect shortly after the incident.

The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Jamel De Ron Brown from Capitol Heights, Maryland was arrested yesterday and charged with Assault on a Police Officer and Robbery. The arrest was made possible due to the swift action of the responding officers and detectives from the First District.
