D.C. Police Locate 2-Year-Old Abducted By Dad

WASHINGTON, D.C. – According to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Youth and Family Services Division, an arrest has been made in connection with an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Parental Kidnapping offense that happened on Monday at the 400 block of Chesapeake Street in Southeast D.C.

Reportedly, the suspect and victim argued at the location shortly after midnight. During the argument, the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim with a handgun and kidnapped their child before leaving the scene in a vehicle. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Keondre Smith was later located safely.

45-year-old Alvin Young, Jr., from D.C., was arrested yesterday and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Parental Kidnapping. The detectives investigating the case have revealed that the offense was domestic in nature.
