BRONX, NY – Yesterday, Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced that a Bronx man has been indicted for Manslaughter and Criminally Negligent Homicide in the death of his 15-year-old stepson, Corde Scott. The defendant, Tyresse Minter, 28, allegedly caused the boy’s death by compressing his neck during a dispute, leading to a lack of oxygen.

The incident occurred on January 23, 2023, when Minter, who had been released from prison a month earlier and was on parole, got into a dispute with his stepson at their home on Doris Street in the Parkchester area. Minter allegedly put Corde in a neck hold, cutting off his oxygen supply, and secured him with his legs. The boy lost consciousness and died at the scene. Minter did not call 911 to report the victim’s death until approximately 20 hours later, after attempting to clean the scene and dispose of evidence.

District Attorney Clark said, “This tragic death of a young boy is heart-wrenching. This was not a simple act of discipline, but a violent and deadly attack that cost a young life. We will seek justice for Corde and his family.”

Minter has been arraigned in the Bronx Supreme Court on an indictment charging him with Manslaughter in the First Degree, Manslaughter in the Second Degree, and Criminally Negligent Homicide. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.
