Newark Charter High School Student Arrested for Terroristic Threatening

NEWARK, DE – Newark Police School Resource Officers (SRO) were alerted by the administration of Newark Charter High School, located at 200 McIntire Drive, of a possible threat made against the school. SROs began an immediate investigation into the reported threat.

During the investigation, it was determined that a 16-year-old male student had made a violent threat against other students while conversing with a school staff member. The staff member quickly reported the threat to the school administration, who promptly contacted Newark Police.

The student was taken into custody by Newark Police at the school and is undergoing a mental health evaluation while in custody. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging the juvenile with four counts of Terroristic Threatening. Upon completion of the mental health evaluation, the student will appear before a magistrate to be formally charged with the offenses.
