Teen Arrested in Connection with Brooklyn Murder

BROOKLYN, NY – On Wednesday, a 16-year-old male has been arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Graig Bassett. The incident took place on March 15, 2023, near 396 Saratoga Avenue in Brooklyn’s 73rd Precinct.

Following an ongoing investigation, the NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying another individual believed to be involved in the homicide. The unidentified suspect is described as a male wearing a black hoodie, dark pants, and white sneakers. Surveillance footage of the suspect has been released by the NYPD in an effort to obtain further information regarding his identity and whereabouts.

The shooting occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. on March 15, when Bassett was approached by the two suspects. After a brief verbal altercation, one of the suspects opened fire, striking Bassett in the chest. The victim was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The 16-year-old suspect, whose name has not been released due to his age, was apprehended by the police and charged accordingly.
