NYPD says 50-year-old woman assaulted because she was black

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying an individual involved in an assault that occurred within the 70th Precinct. On Thursday, March 30, 2023, at approximately 6:00 PM, a 50-year-old female victim was approached by an unknown individual at the intersection of Kings Highway and Avenue O.

The suspect made anti-black remarks and struck the victim in the face before fleeing eastbound toward Kings Highway. The Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident, and the victim did not require hospitalization.

The suspect was last seen wearing a brown sweater and dark-colored pants.
