Police seeking fugitive murder suspect in New York City

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 45-year-old Philip Meyers in connection with a homicide investigation. Meyers is from Brooklyn, and is believed to be connected to the death of 55-year-old John Sarquiz.

On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at around 7:53 PM, police responded to a 911 call reporting a male assaulted in front of 7224 13th Avenue, within the 68 Precinct. Officers found Sarquiz unconscious and unresponsive with head trauma. He was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where he was pronounced deceased on Monday, April 3, 2023. The investigation remains ongoing.
