GAITHERSBURG, MD – A Montgomery County man won a $50,000 Powerball prize on April Fools’ Day, after purchasing a $2 quick-pick ticket at 7-Eleven #32879 located at 3 Professional Drive in Gaithersburg. The lucky winner, who regularly buys tickets for national jackpot games when filling up his gas tank, scanned his ticket using the store ticket checker and was amazed to see he had won.

He gave the ticket to the clerk, who thought he wanted to cash it rather than verify the win. The clerk let out a celebratory yell when she realized the ticket was worth $50,000, and the winner’s secret was out! The prize money will go towards paying bills and boosting the couple’s savings account.

The winner phoned his wife at work to urge her to come home early and was delighted to reveal his third-tier winning ticket. The couple plans to keep the win quiet, with the man only sharing the news with his family.
