Fugitive wanted for murder in Reading captured in South Carolina

READING, PA – Today, 24-year-old Jabar Hill (aka Jabar Marquis), who was wanted for murder, was taken into custody in South Carolina by the US Marshals Service. The Reading Police Department issued a warrant for Hill’s arrest on November 5th, 2022, alleging his involvement in a fatal shooting in Reading, Pennsylvania.

The Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers had been seeking information on Hill’s whereabouts, offering a cash reward for any tips that led to his arrest. Hill faces multiple charges, including first and third-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and aggravated assault, among others.

Officials have not yet released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting or Hill’s extradition process back to Pennsylvania. The Reading Police Department has expressed gratitude to the US Marshals Service and the South Carolina authorities for their cooperation and assistance in apprehending Hill.
