Annapolis man wins $50k on scratch-off lottery ticket

ANNAPOLIS, MD – An Annapolis resident recently won a $50,000 cash prize while playing one of his favorite Maryland Lottery scratch-offs, the Maryland Lottery reported today.

“The winner, an avid lottery player, said he enjoys the thrill of the game and prefers scratch-off games that have a large number of top prizes,” lottery officials reported.

The winner plans to put most of his winnings towards retirement, just like he did when he won a $10,000 prize in the 2001-02 timeframe. He also plans to celebrate his win over a crab cake dinner with a friend.

The Annapolis retailer, Pantry 1 Food Mart & Deli, which sold the winning ticket, will also receive a bonus of $500, equal to 1% of the prize amount, from the Maryland Lottery.

The $50,000 Cash game, which went on sale on December 29, 2022, featured 160 top prizes of $50,000 each. The 73-year-old winner was the 42nd person to claim one of the game’s top prizes, and the game was ranked seventh on the Maryland Lottery’s Top 40 Scratch-Offs chart.
