Theft at Cubano’s Restaurant: Police Seek Public’s Help in Identifying Suspect

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 2nd District Patrol Investigations Unit are investigating a theft that occurred on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Cubano’s Restaurant in the 4900 block of Cordell Ave. Authorities have released surveillance video footage of the suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.

At approximately 10:51 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the location for the report of a theft that had occurred earlier. The investigation revealed that the victim, a restaurant employee, had their backpack hanging on a coat rack near the back of the restaurant.

The suspect took the victim’s backpack, went into the men’s bathroom, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then left the backpack under the sink and exited the restaurant.

Detectives reviewed the surveillance footage from the restaurant and obtained a description of the suspect. He is described as a Black male, 25 to 30 years old, approximately six-feet, five-inches tall, 225 pounds, with short black hair and a beard. He was wearing a blue sweater, black or blue sweatpants with a white stripe, and white sneakers.
