Arrest Made in 2020 Adelphi Fatal Shooting

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has recently identified and charged 34-year-old Jose Linares of Alexandria, VA, with the murder of 21-year-old Payton Marshall from Woodbridge, Virginia, in a fatal shooting that occurred in Adelphi in 2020. On September 7, 2020, patrol officers responded to the 1800 block of Metzerott Road and found the victim with a gunshot wound inside a car in a parking lot. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Linares and Marshall were known to each other, with the motive still under investigation. Linares faces charges of first and second-degree murder, firearms offenses, and additional charges. He is currently in custody in Fairfax County, awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
