Two teens arrested after joy ride in stolen car ends in crash

WILMINGTON, DE – Delaware State Police arrested two 16-year-old males after they led troopers on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle and crashed into a state police vehicle early on April 15, 2023. The pursuit began when Newport officers located the vehicle, reported stolen by the New Castle County Police Department on April 10, 2023.

The juveniles ultimately crashed the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended behind a residence on Ridge Road.

The driver faces multiple charges, including Reckless Endangering First Degree, Disregarding a Police Officer Signal, Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,500, Conspiracy Second Degree, Resisting Arrest, and numerous traffic violations.

He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on a $9,900 cash bond.

The passenger was charged with Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,500, Conspiracy Second Degree, and Resisting Arrest. He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on a $2,500 secured bond.
