Allentown Police and District Attorney Announce Results of Autopsies in Double Shooting

ALLENTOWN, PA – District Attorney Jim Martin and Allentown Police Chief Charles Roca announced yesterday the results of an investigation into a double shooting that occurred on March 24, 2023. At around 1:21 a.m., police were dispatched to a shooting at 154 E. South Street. Upon arriving, they found Yovanni Suazo Jr., a 21-year-old male, lying unresponsive on the sidewalk outside of 165 E. South Street.

Also located at the scene was Alexander J. Perez-Sotomayor, a 42-year-old male, lying face-down between two vehicles.

Autopsies determined that both men died as a result of fatal gunshot wounds. Police secured the area of the shooting and recovered the firearms located next to the deceased men.

The investigation included witness interviews, video recordings of the events during and leading up to the shooting, and securing and analyzing evidence.

The case is being handled by the Office’s White Plains Division.
