Man Arrested and Charged in Connection to Bronx Shooting

BRONX, NY – Yesterday, Sherard Wadlington, a 28-year-old male from Bronx, was arrested and charged following an ongoing investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred on March 25, 2023. The incident took place at the intersection of East 179 Street and Mapes Avenue.

48th Precinct officers made the arrest.

Police responded to a 911 call regarding a male shot and found a 34-year-old male, identified as Darnell Johnson, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at Saint Barnabas Hospital. A second victim, a 33-year-old male, was discovered with a gunshot wound to his right arm and was listed in stable condition at Bronx Lebanon Hospital.

Wadlington faces charges of murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, assault (2 counts), and criminal possession of a weapon (4 counts). The investigation remains ongoing.
