Woman assaulted during attempted robbery in Lower Manhattan

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the whereabouts of a male suspect involved in an attempted robbery within the 1st Precinct.

On Monday, at around 06:03 PM, a 25-year-old female victim was approached by the suspect in front of 20 Greene Street. The suspect attempted to remove the victim’s purse from her shoulder and struck her in the face multiple times during the struggle.

The suspect failed to take any property and fled eastbound on Canal Street. The victim suffered minor injuries. The suspect is described as a male between 25 to 30 years of age, with a dark complexion and medium build, last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and black sneakers.
