21-year-old shot and killed near Fort Greene

NEW YORK, NY – Gunshots rang out Friday night in the area near Fort Greene in a Downtown Brooklyn public housing project.

Police responded to the Ingersoll Houses on Friday night after receiving a 911 call reporting a male shot at the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and St. Edwards Street.

Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered a 21-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and right leg, lying near 60 St. Edwards Street.

Emergency medical services quickly transported him to NY Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. The suspect was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The investigation into the incident began immediately, and the police took a 22-year-old male person of interest into custody. A firearm was recovered from the scene, and the investigation remains ongoing.
