Police arrest suspected Central Park attacker

NEW YORK, NY – The NYPD has announced the arrest of a man who attacked a woman in Central Park and beat her head repeatedly against a tree.

Juan Garcia, 25, of the Bronx was arrested and charged Friday night in connection with an assault case currently under investigation.

Police were abe to identify Garcia through a sketch released last week.

According to police, the victim, a 55-year-old female, was assaulted by Garcia, who engaged her in conversation and then banged her head against a tree multiple times.

The incident took place on Thursday, April 6, at approximately 5:55 am while the victim was walking inside Central Park along the reservoir. Garcia fled the scene eastbound on the 86 Street Transverse on a blue CitiBike. The victim was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
