Wheaton, MD – A Wheaton resident is celebrating after winning a $50,000 prize in the Maryland Lottery’s “Red Hot 7s” scratch-off game. The lucky winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, says she owes her good fortune to her uncle, who gifted her the winning ticket.

According to the Maryland Lottery, the woman’s uncle purchased the winning ticket at a convenience store in the Wheaton area and gave it to her as a gift. The woman scratched off the ticket at home and was shocked to see the $50,000 prize revealed.

“I couldn’t believe it,” the winner said. “I thought maybe I was seeing things, so I had my husband double-check it for me.”

The winner plans to use her prize money to pay off some bills and take a much-needed vacation with her family. She also plans to share some of the money with her uncle as a thank you for the unexpected windfall.

“I wouldn’t have won without him,” she said. “He’s always been so supportive of me, and I’m grateful for his generosity.”
