Child struck by accidental gun discharge in Raleigh

Raleigh, NC – A child was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after accidentally shooting themselves in the north Raleigh area on Thursday evening. According to the Raleigh Police Department, officers received a call around 8:25 p.m. and quickly arrived at the 6600 block of Johnsdale Road near Millbrook Exchange Park.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers determined that the juvenile had sustained an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. The child was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

To protect the child’s privacy, the police department has not released any information about their identity, including their name, age, or gender. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is still ongoing.
