New Kensington Double Shooting Suspect Charged

NEW KENSINGTON, PA – Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli, in cooperation with New Kensington Police, announced today, that criminal charges have been filed against 19-year-old Dylan Walmsley of Leechburg.

Walmsley faces charges including firearms not to be carried without a license, person not to use/possess a firearm, and persons not to possess/own a firearm.

The charges stem from a double shooting that occurred outside of Valley Royal Court in New Kensington on Sunday afternoon, involving 16-year-old Divine Warner.

Surveillance footage revealed that Warner approached Walmsley with a handgun, leading to a physical altercation that resulted in both parties being shot. Warner was shot in the head and later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, while Walmsley sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Walmsley remains hospitalized and is expected to survive. He was arraigned on Tuesday evening and was denied bail. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact New Kensington Police.
