Police continue investigation into death of three-year-old shot in Lumberton

ROBESON COUNTY, NC – On Monday, a tragic incident unfolded in the area of Singletary Church Road and Highway 211 East, just outside of Lumberton, when three-year-old Legacy Alford was fatally shot. Before deputies arrived, a private citizen was transporting the child to a hospital.

Robeson County EMS met the vehicle en route and took over transportation, but Alford succumbed to her injuries at UNC Southeastern Medical Center.

The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation, with its Homicide and Juvenile Divisions working on the case.

No new information has been released in this case at this time.

The North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy, and the evidence will be presented to the Robeson County District Attorney’s Office upon the conclusion of the investigation.
