Police investigating broad daylight shooting in Ewing

Ewing, NJ – A shooting incident occurred on Wednesday, April 26, at around 2:17 pm in the area of 75 Sussex Street.

The Ewing Police received a 911 call regarding the incident and quickly arrived at the scene.

The victim, Dehaven Rogers, was found in the front yard of the residence and was safely taken to the hospital. The suspect, Amir Williams, was seen in the front right window of the residence and later surrendered to the police.

Rogers was later pronounced dead at Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

Williams has been charged with first-degree murder and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is currently being held in custody at Mercer County Corrections Center, and the Prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain him pending trial.

The Mercer County Homicide Task Force is conducting further investigation into the matter.
