Elderly Bronx woman attacked and raped

BRONX, NEW YORK – On Thursday, the New York City Police Department arrested and charged a man in connection with an attack on an elderly woman in the Bronx.

The NYPD reported Angel Roque, a 36-year-old male from Beaumont Avenue in the Bronx, was arrested at 3:30 pm and charged with attempted rape, criminal sex act, sex abuse, criminal obstruction of breathing, and stalking.

The incident was reported to the police on Saturday at approximately 6:04 am.

According to the police report, a 68-year-old female victim was approached from behind by an unknown individual in the vicinity of East 189 Street and Webster Avenue. The suspect choked the victim, forced her into a garage, and attempted to remove her clothing but was unsuccessful.

The suspect then forced the victim to perform oral sex on him before fleeing southbound on 3rd Avenue. The victim was taken to a local hospital by EMS to receive treatment for her injuries.

The suspect was described as a male, approximately 5’2-5’5” in height, with a heavy build. He was last seen wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt and dark blue jeans. A man matching that description was later identified as Roque.

The investigation is still ongoing. The NYPD encourages anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
