Three dead, including two children in Bedford-Stuyvesant house fire

NEW YORK, NY – A residential fire broke out at 587 Gates Avenue, apartment #3A, in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood on Friday morning.

Emergency services responded to a 911 call at approximately 5:05 am. Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.

Three individuals were rescued from the location by on-scene EMS, including a 40-year-old female, a 10-year-old female, and an 8-year-old female. However, despite efforts to save them, all three were pronounced deceased upon arrival at NYC Health & Hospitals/Woodhull.

The FDNY Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, and the identities of the victims have not been released pending proper family notification.
