74-year-old man robbed of $89,000 in jewerly in Chinatown

The New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying four individuals involved in a grand larceny that took place within the 5th Precinct. The incident happened on Friday, April 14, 2023, at around 12:30 PM.

The victim, a 74-year-old man, was sitting in his car at the corner of Bowery and Hester Street when four individuals approached his vehicle’s rear passenger tire. While the victim and his driver were fixing the tire, the suspects created a distraction and stole a bag of jewelry from inside the car.

The four individuals then fled in a gray car that was parked on Chrystie Street, heading northbound on Christie Street before turning right on Grand Street and disappearing. No injuries were reported, but the jewelry was valued at $89,366.
