Cape May County Corrections Officer Indicted on Sexual Assault Charges

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, NJ – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Sheriff Robert Nolan announced the grand jury indictment of Jonathan Perez, a 33-year-old corrections officer at the Cape May County Correctional Facility, on first-degree sexual assault charges.

On Tuesday, Perez was indicted for two counts of aggravated sexual assault, crimes of the first degree; one count of sexual assault, a crime of the second degree; and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, crimes of the second degree.

The indictment resulted from a joint investigation by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the New Jersey State Police Woodbine barracks, initiated in February 2023.

Perez was initially arrested and charged on February 12, 2023, with the same offenses as the indictment.
