Elderly couple victims of Wilmington murder-suicide

WILMINGTON, DE – An elderly couple was found dead in their Wilmington home on Sunday, victims of a murder-suicide, according to police.

On Sunday, at approximately 7:28 a.m., the Delaware State Police Communication Center received an open line 9-1-1 call from an address in the 1800 block of Veale Road, Wilmington.

Troopers were dispatched to that location to check on the welfare of the residents.

Upon arrival, responding troopers discovered two elderly subjects, an 87-year-old male, and an 86-year-old female deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. Both subjects lived at the residence and were pronounced dead at the scene. The male was in possession of a recovered handgun.

The Homicide Unit is actively investigating this incident. Detectives are urging anyone with information regarding this case to contact Detective B. McDerby by calling 302-741-2821.
