NEWARK, DE – On Saturday, Newark Police responded to an apartment in the 100-block of Thorn Lane after receiving a report of an injured Yorkie dog.

The investigation led to the arrest warrant of Syniah Percell, 25, of Marietta, Georgia, who has been charged with one count of felony cruelty to animals.

The incident occurred on Friday when the apartment resident left a friend, identified as Percell, in charge of their dog while they were out. Upon their return, the resident discovered the dog acting strangely, walking oddly, and with a bruise on its body.

The dog was taken to a veterinarian, where it was found to have suffered severe injuries.

Further investigation uncovered video evidence of Percell abusing the dog while it was under her control. An arrest warrant was issued by Justice of the Peace Court #11 on Saturday.
