Swatting incident prompts police response to Woodlake Apartments

WOODBURY CITY -On May 4, 2023, the Woodbury City Police Department responded to a critical incident at Woodlake Apartments that prompted a large police response.

Upon arrival, it was quickly determined that the incident was believed to be the result of a “Swatting” prank call made to emergency services with the intention of bringing about a large police presence at a particular location.

The police department confirmed that everyone at the reported location was unharmed and unaware of why police were called.

An extensive canvas of the area was conducted, revealing that no one was in need of police or medical assistance.

The Woodbury Police Department assures the public that there is currently no cause for concern or threat to public safety. The incident is under active investigation.
