New York City – The New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in connection to a rape that occurred in Queens.
The incident was reported to the police on Sunday, April 30, at approximately 5:00 AM.
According to the NYPD, a 49-year-old woman was walking home when an unknown individual riding a motorized scooter approached her. The suspect engaged the victim in conversation and then offered her a ride on the back of the scooter. The victim accepted the offer and got on the back of the scooter. However, the suspect drove her to the vicinity of 48 Avenue and 72 Street, where he punched her in the face, causing her to lose consciousness.
The suspect then proceeded to rape the victim. When she regained consciousness, the suspect had fled the scene on the scooter. The victim was taken to NYC Health and Hospital/Elmhurst, where she was admitted in serious but stable condition.
The NYPD has released surveillance photos of the suspect prior to the incident. The suspect is described as a male, approximately 6′ 00″ tall, 200 pounds, with a medium complexion and a medium build.
