BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – On Thursday evening, the Brick Township Police Department received a call from a resident on Mantoloking Rd. requesting police assistance for an excessive number of cats inside the residence.

Due to the nature of the incident, police requested assistance from Berkeley Hazmat and Brick Township Fire District #1 to ensure conditions were safe before entering the property.

Upon entering the residence, authorities discovered and removed 83 cats and three dogs. No deceased animals were found on the scene.

The incident comes after a couple were arrested and charged for a mass animal hoarding incident. In that case, 182 animals including 35 dogs, 45 cats were found along with two dead puppies.

The investigation into the latest incident is still ongoing, and it is unclear whether charges will be filed against the resident for animal hoarding or neglect.
