48-year-old woman shot multiple times, killed in Brooklyn

NEW YORK, NY – Gunfire erupted early Sunday morning in the Fort Hamilton section of Brooklyn and one person was left dead.

On Sunday, police responded to a 911 call of a shooting at 230 East 96th Street. At approximately 3:00 am, officers arrived to find a 49-year-old woman who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head, torso, and leg.

EMS responded to the scene and provided medical services at the scene before taking the woman to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center. She was later pronounced dead.

Authorities took a 48-year-old man, who was a person of interest, into custody on the scene. The identity of the victim is currently being withheld until her family can be notified.

At this time, no charges have been filed.
