Annual basketball tournament honors fall Frederick police officer

FREDERICK, MD- The Frederick Police Department held its annual Matt Fast Basketball Tournament yesterday at Oakdale High School to honor the memory of Officer Matthew Fast, who passed away unexpectedly in 2016. The event also remembered Lt. Stew Alcorn and Officer Greg Santangelo.

This year’s tournament featured teams made up of public safety professionals from across the region.

The tournament began with a moment of silence to remember the fallen officers, and the games were fiercely competitive as teams battled for the championship. In the end, FPD, who wore black shirts, took home second place.

The tournament is an opportunity for the Frederick community to come together and honor the memory of Officer Fast while also supporting his family.
