Frankford Man Arrested on Gun Charges Following Traffic Stop in Delmar

DELMAR, DE – Evelio Alvarez, a 28-year-old Frankford resident, was arrested on multiple gun charges after a traffic stop in Delmar late Saturday night. Delaware State Police received a report of a subject with a gun on Robin Hood Road in Delmar.

As troopers were responding to the scene, dispatch advised that the suspect was leaving the area in a silver Dodge Durango. The vehicle was spotted on Old Stage Road in Laurel, where troopers conducted a traffic stop.

During the stop, troopers discovered that Alvarez, a rear seat passenger, was in possession of a handgun concealed under the front passenger seat. Alvarez, a convicted drug offender prohibited from possessing a firearm, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

He was taken to Troop 5 and charged with carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, resisting arrest, possession of a firearm while under the influence, and criminal mischief.
