Utica Police Arrest Suspect in Knife Incident

UTICA, NY – In the evening hours of Friday, Utica Police units were dispatched to a residence on the 700 block of Blandina St following reports of a fight involving a knife. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victims and gathered information about the incident. T

he victims provided a description of a male suspect who had reportedly threatened them with a knife. Not long after, additional officers located a man matching the description walking on Mohawk St.

The man, identified as Asmar Bedford, 43, of Utica, was taken into custody without incident and subsequently transported to the Utica Police Department for booking.

Bedford is now facing several charges including Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, Menacing in the second degree x2, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Harassment in the second degree.
