PHILADELPHIA, PA – A gun-related incident was reported at Grover Washington Middle School on East Olney Avenue onTuesday, leading to the apprehension of two students.

Philadelphia police were alerted to the school shortly before 11 a.m. following reports of a student possessing a weapon on the school grounds.

In response to the alert, the school immediately went into lockdown, with students confined to their classrooms for about an hour as investigators searched the premises.

The search resulted in the recovery of the weapon and the detention of two students, who are now in police custody for questioning.

This incident is particularly troubling as it follows another similar incident at E. Washington Rhodes Elementary School. Just a day prior, a gun was discharged in a bathroom at the elementary school, leading to an intense investigation.
