Ducklings Rescued from Storm Drain by Virginia Cop

by Jessica Woods

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – An unusual rescue took place in the Town Center area on Sunday. Officer Ankrom of the 3rd Precinct’s dayshift was summoned following reports of baby ducks in a storm water drain.

In an operation that required the officer to navigate several underground tunnels, all the ducklings were successfully retrieved.

A 5-gallon bucket, supplied by a quick-thinking bystander, was used to lift the ducklings to safety. Upon rescue, the ducklings were handed over to a local wildlife service as the adult ducks were not in the vicinity.
