Fort Washington man killed in Oxon Hill Crash

OXON HILL, MD – A motor vehicle crash in Oxon Hill early Friday morning claimed the life of a Fort Washington resident. The driver, identified as 40-year-old Evan Heyward, died following a collision with a tractor-trailer.

The collision happened around 3:55 am on May 12, 2023, in the 6200 block of Oxon Hill Road. According to the initial investigation, Heyward was traveling eastbound on Oxon Hill Road when his vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer that was turning left from a shopping center onto Oxon Hill Road. Heyward was taken to the hospital, but tragically died from his injuries.

The driver of the tractor-trailer remained on the scene and was not injured.

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating the incident and is seeking any additional information related to the case. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the unit at 301-731-4422.
