Two indicted in deadly Utica shooting

UTICA, NY – A deadly shooting that occurred on January 2nd on the 1200 block of Seymour Ave has resulted in indictments for two individuals. William Morris lost his life during the incident, and patrol officers who were nearby heard the gunshots and rushed to the scene.

They were able to detain a suspect who fled from the vehicle and found a handgun during the pursuit.

Following the pursuit and initial arrest, the Utica Police Department Major Crimes Unit worked alongside the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office to investigate the incident.

Recently, the case was presented to an Oneida County Grand Jury, which returned indictments on two individuals. One of these individuals was the party arrested on the night of the homicide, while the other was revealed to be the driver of the vehicle in question.

The two individuals who have been indicted are Abdulkadir Ali, 19, of Utica, who has been charged with murder in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and criminal possession of a firearm. Issa Ali, 19, also of Utica, has been charged with murder in the second degree.
