18-year-old shot multiple times, killed in the Bronx

Bronx, NY – Gunfire erupted in the Alston section of the Bronx shortly before police received a 911 call reporting a shooting in front of 1303 Common Wealth Avenue. 43rd Precinct officers arrived at the scene to find an 18-year-old male victim in critical condition, having sustained a gunshot wound to the torso.

Emergency Medical Services transported the young man to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, but he was pronounced deceased shortly after his arrival.

The victim has been identified as Jerome Burleigh, a resident of Fteley Avenue in the Bronx.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). Callers can remain anonymous, and information that leads to an arrest and indictment may be eligible for a reward.
